Rockies’ new starter Dinelson Lamet struggles in 6-0 loss to D-backs

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 19:48:14 GMT

The Rockies took the field Wednesday night with a recycled starter, a young lineup and a monkey on their back.So it came as no big surprise that the talented Diamondbacks cruised to a 6-0 victory at Chase Field. The recycled starter was Dinelson Lamet. The right-hander was not very good. With Charlie Blackmon still gone on bereavement leave for his grandfather, and Kris Bryant nursing a sore foot after getting nicked by a foul ball Tuesday night, Colorado trotted out a baby-faced lineup that included Ezequiel Tovar at shortstop, Elehuris Montero at first, Nolan Jones in left and Brenton Doyle in center. The monkey? That would be the Rockies’ feeble offense on the road where they fell to 9-19 after managing just three hits and not advancing a runner past second base.Arizona left-hander Tommy Henry, 25, dominated the Rockies and pitched the best game of his infant career and kept the D-backs rolling. They have won five of six from the Rockies this season, and with a 33-23 record ar...

French Open 2023: Still no women’s matches in night sessions at Roland Garros

PARIS (AP) — When the French Open introduced night sessions a year ago, just one of the 10 matches scheduled for under the lights in the main stadium featured women. That drew criticism from Tennis Hall of Famer and equal rights advocate Billie Jean King, among others — both as a matter of fairness and because that sort of exposure is the best way to bring more attention to players.Well, so far in 2023, all of the first four night sessions have featured men’s matches.“If the tournament is not going to change it, then there’s nothing we can do,” 2017 U.S. Open champion and 2018 French Open finalist Sloane Stephens said.Thursday night’s second-round contest in Court Philippe Chatrier originally was supposed to be France’s Gael Monfils against Denmark’s Holger Rune, the sixth-seeded man. After Monfils withdrew from the tournament late Wednesday, that was replaced by 2020 U.S. Open runner-up Alexander Zverev against Alex Molcan. WHO ELSE PLAYS THURSDAY?The remain...
